CASE STUDY
Crusher blockages due to oversized rocks result in more than 25 hours of crusher downtime per month.
In a case study performed at an open-pit iron ore mine that exports 50 Mtpa, an average downtime of per period from oversized ore blockages it has resulted in a 4% annual reduction in production.
The average production capacity of Australian iron ore sites is between 25 to 30 Mtpa. This means the average site should expect to experience a production loss due to oversize alone of approximately 1 Mtpa.
In today’s market (assuming the price of iron ore is $100/tonne), this equates to a revenue loss of $100 million annually.
